What is EVERYrun

This isn’t just another 5K, another race for competitive runners to push themselves or leisure runners to get some exercise. It’s not just another event to raise a little money for a good cause. No. We are providing a moment of hospitality to people who don’t always experience this world as a hospitable place.

EVERYrun will bring together competitive runners, everyday runners, wheelchair athletes, blind runners, para-athletes – people of ALL abilities – in one shared race experience. Everyone participating together, encouraging one another, and crossing the same finish line. We will make inclusion something people experience—not simply something they hear about.

Why it matters

We need one another, but in a society that values ability people experiencing disability as well as people with great ability can find themselves in the margins. Their ability can be what keeps them apart. The EVERYrun will bring them together, will bring us all together. For a moment, we will share the same space and run the same race. Memories will be made! But beyond that, momentum will be established to help our community become stronger.

Why your business might belong here

You may be wondering, "What is an ametrine and what does it have to do with the EVERYrun?"

The ametrine is a rare kind of quartz found naturally in a single mine in Bolivia. It is a gemstone that results from the fusing of purple amethyst and the golden-yellow citrine. Ametrine is a portmanteau of amethyst and citrine. Two things that don't normally come together, united into something new and beautiful. This is the aim of the EVERYrun.

Amethyst and citrine, just like EVERY one of us, is beautiful and valuable on their own. However, there is something particularly glorious when they come together and make something new.

At the heart of the EVERYrun is the hope we might bring a person with a disability together with a person who has hyper-ability (one of the college athletes in Tallahassee) and forge new friendships. We hope, that in coming to be a friend, people might actually find a friend.
