Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is abundant, but the workers are few. Therefore, pray to the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into his harvest.”
Our goal is to identify, train, place, and support a campus minister with every team on all three of our college campus ministry fields - light in every locker-room. This includes varsity teams, club teams, and intramurals.
Between the three colleges, there are thirty-six varsity sports, dozens of clubs, and thousands of students competing in intramurals. Therefore, we have over one hundred Gospel Opportunities for local church members to step into to help us reach EVERY coach and athlete.
In the FCA:TCM context, leading a coach or athlete requires presence with the coach or athlete and we achieve presence by placing people where the coaches and athletes are. Those people, be they staff or volunteers, are members of a local church and based upon our convictional belief that a missionary is one sent by a local church and our organizational value to partner with the local church, we want our people to be deeply committed to, formed in, and sent by their local body. We call these committed, formed, and sent people missionaries.
“An FCA:TCM missionary is a qualified Christian (in character and competency), sent out by local church, positioned by FCA:TCM in a place of Gospel Opportunity (GO), usually crossing local-geographical, and cultural barriers in pursuit of the great commission (pushing out with an evangelistically driven ministry of presence and service, introductory discipleship, plugging people into churches, and training up of disciple makers).”
To serve as a campus missionary with the Tallahassee College Ministry, an interested person must be a contributing member of a local church and in good standing within that body. Then, FCA TCM forms a partnership between the candidate and their local church where TCM serves as a conduit between the local church and the mission fields. In this case, the three big colleges in Tallahassee.
The process for applying to become a campus missionary with FCA TCM is below.
Alignment is essential for a successful team! Before going any further, prayerfully consider FCA's vision, mission, and values to be sure you are in alignment with the ministry.
First Steps is a brief theological questionnaire that allows us to be sure we are in alignment on key theological issues.
A Ministry Leader Application (MLA) is FCA's tool to get to know prospective volunteers. We look forward to learning more about you!
When we receive First Steps and your MLA, we will reach out about moving forward.
This is a meeting the candidate for ministry will schedule with a pastor from their local church. That meeting will simply be a time of fellowship, discernment, and prayer centered on the candidate's interest in ministry, FCA's vison and values, and the answers provided by the candidate on their First Steps and MLA.
The pastor who met with you will follow the link below and fill out the reccomendation. That reccomendation will be delivered to FCA TCM staff and we will take it from there.
We call our ministry strategy E3 and it stands for: Engage, Equip, Empower. All field staff and volunteers must complete this training.
We are constantly praying for Gospel Opportunitites (GO) and when we have an approved campus missionary we get them placed into the field to being serving through prayer, evangelism, and discipleship.
